Potato and Cheese Sticks

Ingredients :

  • 3 large potatoes
  • 13 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Grated cheese of your choice (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dried oregano
  • Dried parsley
  • Oil for frying

Instructions : 

  1. Boil the potatoes: Peel, wash, and cut the potatoes into small cubes. Boil them in salted water until tender. Drain and let cool.
  2. Mash the potatoes: Transfer the cooked potatoes to a bowl and mash them until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and parsley.
  3. Combine ingredients: Add the grated cheese and cornstarch to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until a dough forms. If the mixture is too wet, add more cornstarch.
  4. Chill the dough: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Shape the sticks: Dust a clean surface with cornstarch. Take a small amount of dough and shape it into a long, thin cylinder.
  6. Fry: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot. Fry the potato sticks until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

    Tips:

    • Cheese selection: You can use a combination of cheeses for a more complex flavor.
    • Seasoning: Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste.
    • Oil temperature: For optimal results, heat the oil to 375°F (190°C).
