Ingredients :
- 3 cups frozen hashbrowns, thawed and drained
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (ground or in links, crumbled)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions :
- Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through. Crumble the sausage if using links. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
- Mix the hashbrowns and sausage: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hashbrowns, cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, eggs, flour, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
- Form the bites: Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into bite-sized patties or balls, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Heat the oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Fry the bites: Once the oil is hot, carefully add the hashbrown and sausage bites. Fry them for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. - Drain and serve: Transfer the fried bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or as-is for a delicious, savory treat.
