Crispy Hashbrown and Sausage Bites

Ingredients :

  • 3 cups frozen hashbrowns, thawed and drained
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (ground or in links, crumbled)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions :

  1. Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through. Crumble the sausage if using links. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  2. Mix the hashbrowns and sausage: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hashbrowns, cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, eggs, flour, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
  3. Form the bites: Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into bite-sized patties or balls, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Fry the bites: Once the oil is hot, carefully add the hashbrown and sausage bites. Fry them for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain and serve: Transfer the fried bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or as-is for a delicious, savory treat.
