Creamed Potatoes and Peas

Ingredient  :

  • 2 lbs red potatoes
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 10 oz. frozen peas
  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions :

Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes

  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Boil the red potatoes until they are tender. Once cooked, cut them in half and place them on a greased baking pan.

Step 2: Add the Peas

  • Evenly sprinkle the frozen peas over the halved potatoes.

Step 3: Make the Cream Sauce

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in the flour, salt, and pepper, and cook for about 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  • Gradually add the milk and evaporated milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Step 4: Combine and Bake

  • Pour the creamy sauce over the potatoes and peas, ensuring everything is evenly coated.
  • Top with the crumbled bacon.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
